Creative Challenges...

Sometimes it is good to step out of your "box" and do something totally different than you would normally do things. I do not often join in on online challenges, because, well... their challenging! Challenges have rules, and I am a rule follower. (seriously my husband refers to me as "a cross walk girl") I find that kind of restricting when doing something creative. When creating I , like my friend Linda says," let the squirrel out of the cage!", I am kind of all over the place. So challenges are challenging for me, but I decided that maybe I need to step out of my box a little more often, and try some new things. This card is the end result. There was an inspiration challenge over on Paper Wings, the inspiration piece was very Victorian, very pretty, very not me. But I wanted to join in the fun, and this is what I ended up with. I followed the layout of the inspiration piece as close as possible, and the colors kind of, but I definitely added my own style in there too I think. I was not sure if I even liked it, I thought twice about posting it to be honest. But I am so glad that I did because, I received a lot of positive comments on this card! So sometimes it is good to step out the box and do something totally different!! So what do you find challenging when creating, working with a set of guide lines (rules), or flying but the seat of your pants?

What do you think?

What I used for this project:
stamps: Cheery Thoughts R-2043
Ink: Palette Burnt Umber
Paper: Willoughby SWIC, More Mimi SWIC, Kraft and Ivory Cardstock
Accessories: Heart and Flower punches, Nestibilities circle and label dies, dew drops, Copic markers, scrappers floss.

More Mimi Acrylic Album

"More Mimi" is one of my favorite paper lines from The Angel Company, it is even double sided for more creative possibilities. That means 10 different paper patterns to work with, plus a set of double sided tags!!
This is a clear album a we also carry in the catalog, so much fun with all the different shapes.

I love how this album turned out. If you have not made an acrylic album before , you should give it a try, they are so much fun and look so beautiful when they are done.

I hope that you enjoy this little album, and maybe it will inspire you to create your own clear album to use for yourself, or as a special gift...

I would love to hear what you think! Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by!!

For this project I used:

More Mimi SWIC V855
Mimi Cardstock B311
All Mixed Up acrylic album K600

Jan. 2010 Angel Art Blog Hop - Valentine's Day Theme

It's time for another Angel Art Blog hop! This month's theme is Valentine creations made using Papers and stamps from The Angel Company. I found these wonderful chocolates in the dollar spot, and thought that they would be great to jazz up and give to my kids teachers or someone else special. I used brown card stock to create the wrap and added a belly band and scalloped circle to the front, using "More Mimi" paper. That cute little bee is from a new level A hostess set called "Swirled Spring Life". The sentiment is from "I Heart You". I made (most) of the flowers using our flower punches from the catalog!

From the scraps laying on my desk I also made this card.

But I have to say this is my favorite project of the three, it's a hanging card keeper! The bottom half is a pocket, all covered with flowers, just waiting for a love note or two. (The dark brown daisy flowers are from other punches that I have in my stash.)

I hope these give you some ideas and inspiration to create some of your own Valentine projects! Don't forget to go see all the other talented gals who are participating in this Blog Hop, for even more inspiration. It would be great if you would leave them a comment and let them know how much you enjoyed their creations!! Have fun, and thanks for stopping by!!

Happy Birthday Ava!

Today is my Niece's birthday. I hope she likes this card I made just for her, all pink and princessy (I don't think that is even a word?) just like her. I used the soon to be released set "Fairytale Fun" from The Angel Company. Thankfully, I have nieces that are still young enough to love princesses, even if my own sweet girl is not! Although she did have me stamp her some of this image so she could color them.... hmmm, maybe the princess thing is not totally over.
I colored her with Copic markers and added the tiny gems to her crown after I cut her out with a nestabiltity oval. What do you think?

I hope that your weekend is wonderful!

Birthday Kitty

Birthday cards are what I seem to need the most, all the time. I think this soon to be released new set from The Angel Company is so very cute, it is called "Cupcake Cuties", and it works perfectly for birthday cards! There are several images in this set that are adorable, I will post more in the next few days... The sentiment is from another TAC set called "Open Presents" I colored this using Copic markers, which I am very excited to say will also be available in the new catalog!!! To keep the kitty white, I just used a light grey marker to add some shadow, then lightly blended it out with the colorless blender pen. It's an easy way to achieve some depth without coloring the whole image. This same technique could be used with colored pencils and OMS. What do you think??

"Fairy Tale Fun"

More Valentine's cards using a soon to be new set from The Angel Company, called "Fairy Tale Fun". Oh my goodness I think this is my favorite one! I just wish that I had it a few years ago before my sweet girl out grew the whole princess thing. It brings back so many sweet memories of when my baby girl lived in dress up clothes and fancy shoes. *sigh* So sweet...

I hope that you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed making them! This set will be available to order Feb. 1st, along with many more wonderful sets in the new Serendipity Catalog!!
