Mother's Day

It is funny how one day can have so many different meanings as you go through life. As a kid Mother's day was all about trying to surprise my Mom, my Mom is almost impossible to surprise. Honestly, I think I have only really surprised her a few times. I  would make things and hide them, inside the house, outside the house, it did not matter, somehow she always managed to run across them. Once I found and old enamel coffee pot (she has always loved those) it was buried out in the horse pasture. I felt like I had struck gold, and I hid it for months. I kept moving it around so she didn't accidentally find it. I hid it in the barn, in a blackberry bush, even up in a evergreen tree in the yard! As Mother's day approached I brought it in and buried it in the back of my closet, I wanted to fill it with lilacs and give it to he Mother's day morning, big mistake. She decided I needed to clean my closet, and she helped me by shoveling out my hiding spot! It is still really hard to surprise her even today, and I am much stealthier than I was at 7!!  Mom still has that coffee pot too!
As an adult I worked as a floral designer for many years before I had kids of my own. Mother's Day was exhaustion, and mass production, but at least I was making beautiful things that might just make someones day. Let's just say I was not a big fan of Mother's day at this point of my life.
 And then she came.

Then a few years later he joined us.
Mother's Day now means so much more than I ever dreamed it could. I am so thankful to have these two amazing, wonderful, spunky, sometimes ornery, little people call me Mom!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's (in whatever form that takes) and Grandmas out there!!

And a special Happy Mother's Day to my wonderful Mom Pat, and my wonder Mother in law, Merrie. I am also so thankful for both of you!!
