This months Angel Art Blog Hop theme is "Go Green"! We could use the color green, we could make something for St. Patrick's Day, or we could recycle something to use in our project!! So I made a trio of cards using green as my pop of color, kind of and Irish feel, and I used a soda pop can for a decorative element!! I know that I have done this soda pop thing before, but this time I added some alcohol inks and embossed them with the spellbinders impressabilities that we are now carrying in the catalog. I also used my nestibilities labels 4, and scalloped hearts to create some of the shapes I used. This was such a fun theme, I can't wait to see what all the other participating Angels did for their projects! Please stop by their blogs and take a look too! I am sure they would all love a comment or two about their projects too!

I love how these cards turned out, the embossing really adds so much to the metal, but the alcohol ink gives it even more! Did you know that you can use your Copic refill inks for this technique! I also lightly sanded the surface after I did the inking technique, just to bring out a little silver color and I think i gives it more depth. Cutting the shapes with the nesties works beautifully and kind of curves the edges so you don't have any sharp spots to worry about.
If you want to try this all you need to do is cut the ends off a soda can , be careful the edges get really sharp!! Cut it down the seam line and fold open, then use a paper cutter to trim edges straight. I then ran it through my Big Shot with one of the impressabilities. Slightly sanded the surface, and added the alcohol ink, 2 separate colors and blended with blending solution. When I had the color I liked, I heat set it and then sanded the surface again to bring back a little silver and give it more depth. Then I cut my shapes and made my cards, I was able to get all three of these cards from one pop can! There are photos below what I did. If you are an Angel and you would like to join us, head on ove to Paper Wings for the details!
For these cards I used:
Stamps: Script Background t2898
Bookoo Blessings t2892
Fabulous Frames t3255
Great Greetings t3114
Unexpected Joys TB 3149
Paper: Ivory and Kraft Cardstock
Ribbon, alcohol inks, buttons, crimpper, nestie hearts and lables4, lables1
