Creative Challenges...

Sometimes it is good to step out of your "box" and do something totally different than you would normally do things. I do not often join in on online challenges, because, well... they're challenging! Challenges have rules, and I am a rule follower. (seriously my husband refers to me as "a cross walk girl") I find that kind of restricting when doing something creative. When creating I , like my friend Linda says," let the squirrel out of the cage!", I am kind of all over the place. So challenges are challenging for me, but I decided that maybe I need to step out of my box a little more often, and try some new things. This card is the end result. There was an inspiration challenge over on Paper Wings, the inspiration piece was very Victorian, very pretty, very not me. But I wanted to join in the fun, and this is what I ended up with. I followed the layout of the inspiration piece as close as possible, and the colors kind of, but I definitely added my own style in there too I think. I was not sure if I even liked it, I thought twice about posting it to be honest. But I am so glad that I did because, I received a lot of positive comments on this card! So sometimes it is good to step out the box and do something totally different!! So what do you find challenging when creating, working with a set of guide lines (rules), or flying but the seat of your pants?

What do you think?

What I used for this project:
stamps: Cheery Thoughts R-2043
Ink: Palette Burnt Umber
Paper: Willoughby SWIC, More Mimi SWIC, Kraft and Ivory Cardstock
Accessories: Heart and Flower punches, Nestibilities circle and label dies, dew drops, Copic markers, scrappers floss.

Oh this is pretty - I LOVE IT!! I've just started participating in challenges and have to admit most of the sketches. They just seem easier for me. You're right though sometimes it's good to step out of our box!

This is a darling card! All the pieces of the card just seem to just blend together, very polished. I love it! Great job!

I agree, a rule follower is the way to be! And you are plenty creative so do not ever worry about that! It is good to be out of our comfort zone every once in a while! Sandy
